The Minnesota Timberwolves have released shooting guard Brandon Roy

Blogged under Big Timberwolves News, Bloglockers, Comings & Goings, Front Page, General by joelapinski on Saturday 11 May 2013 at 7:40 am

The Timberwolves have released 28-year old shooting guard Brandon Roy.  Roy only played in 5 games (all starts) for the Timberwolves last year and he averaged 24.4 minutes, 5.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game.  Roy has played in 326 games (300 starts) in his first six years in the NBA and he is averaging 35.5 minutes, 18.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 1.0 steal per game.  It was smart of the T-Wolves to cut ties with Roy as his knees are likely going to prevent him from ever being the player he was in Portland, and that is a shame.

The Minnesota Timberwolves sign Mickael Gelabale and Chris Johnson to second 10-day contracts

Blogged under Bloglockers, Comings & Goings, Front Page, General by alleyoop on Tuesday 29 January 2013 at 8:09 pm

The Timberwolves have signed 29-year old small forward Mickael Gelabale and 27-year old PF/C Chris Johnson to second 10-day contracts. Gelabale has played in 5 games (0 starts) for the T-Wolves so far this year and he is averaging 21.8 minutes, 7.8 points, 3.6 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game. Gelabale is shooting a very impressive 55.6% from the free throw line so far this year for the T-Wolves. Johnson has played in 5 games (0 starts) for the T-Wolves so far this year and he is averaging 17.2 minutes, 9.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, 0.4 assists and 1.2 blocked shots per game. Johnson is shooting better from the floor (72%) than he is from the free throw line (71.4%), and that’s pretty darn impressive. It looks like the Timberwolves have found a couple of keepers in Gelabale and Johnson.

Blogged under Bloglockers, Comings & Goings, Front Page, General by alleyoop on Monday 31 December 2012 at 3:46 pm

The Timberwolves have signed 26-year old SG/SF Lazar Hayward. Hayward played in 26 games (0 starts) for the Thunder last year and he averaged 5.4 minutes, 1.4 points, 0.6 rebounds and 0.2 assists per game. The Minnesota Timberwolves have waived Josh Howard

The Timberwolves have waived 32-year old SG/SF Josh Howard, as he has tore his ACL and will miss the remainder of the 2012-13 season. Howard played in 11 games (4 starts) for the Timberwolves this year and he averaged 18.8 minutes, 6.7 points, 3.3 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game. This is going to hurt the T-Wolves bench a little bit moving forward.

The Minnesota Timberwolves release Will Conroy

Blogged under Bloglockers, Comings & Goings, Front Page, General by alleyoop on Friday 16 November 2012 at 12:08 pm

The Timberwolves have released 29-year old guard Will Conroy. Conroy played in 4 games (0 starts) for the T-Wolves this year and he averaged 5.0 minutes, 0.3 points and 0.3 rebounds per game. Conroy has now played in 16 games (0 starts) in his first three years in the NBA and he is averaging 6.8 minutes, 0.4 points, 0.7 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game. This is no loss for the Timberwolves moving forward.

This was a good move for the T-Wolves as Howard will likely fill Chase Budinger’s role for the next couple of months.

UPDATE: (10/22/2012) - The T-Wolves have waived Jermaine Taylor.

The Minnesota Timberwolves sign Louis Amundson

Blogged under Bloglockers, Comings & Goings, Front Page, General by alleyoop on Monday 24 September 2012 at 2:52 pm
