The Minnesota Twins played like they were in a trance last weekend
The Twins looked pathetic against the Baltimore Orioles over the weekend. The Twins were swept in Baltimore as they were outscored 15-5! The Twins only hit .163 with a .466 OPS as a team over the weekend! Josh Willingham was 3 for 9 (.333 avg, 1.232 OPS) with 1 run scored, 1 homer and 3 RBIs. Willingham was the only Twins’ player with a homer and more than 1 RBI over the weekend. Justin Morneau looked good as he was 4 for 10 (.400 avg, 1.055 OPS) with 1 run scored, working as the DH. Denard Span was 3 for 12 (.250 avg, .500 OPS). Willingham, Morneau and Span were the only Twins’ players with more than 3 hits over the weekend. The pitching staff wasn’t too good either as they compiled a 5.25 ERA and a 1.46 WHIP. Lefty starting pitcher Francisco Liriano was especially putrid over the weekend as he more than earned a loss by working 4 innings in which he gave up 8 hits (1 homer), 6 runs (5 earned) and he walked 2 batters while whiffing 4. The Twins hope Liriano is better the next time out. The Twins will be welcoming the Los Angeles Angels for a series starting this afternoon.
