Unless the Twins get hot really soon (and they played well over the weekend), then they are likely to be sellers later this month. The Twins are only 32-45 on the season, which has them in last place in the A.L. Central, only 8.5 games behind the White Sox. If the Twins are sellers, these are the guys likely to go:
Ryan Doumit - The Twins just signed Ryan Doumit to a 2-year extension, but they would still deal him to a team like the Rays if they got an offer they couldn’t refuse.
Justin Morneau - Lefty swinging 1B/DH Justin Morneau would likely garner some interest on the trade market if the Twins make him available. The Blue Jays, Marlins, Pirates, Brewers and Dodgers would likely have the most interest. The Blue Jays would probably offer the most to the Twins as Morneau appeals to them because he’s not only good…but he’s a Canadian.
Alexi Casilla - 2B/SS Alexi Casilla would likely interest the Tigers, Cardinals or Brewers as a starting player. The Yankees and Reds would likely have interest in him as a backup. I think a deal with the Brewers makes the most sense for him.
Jamey Carroll - 2B/SS Jamey Carroll could pique the interest of a lot of the same teams that Casilla would. The Yankees, Rays, Tigers, Reds, Cardinals, Brewers and Giants would all be interested in Carroll. I think a deal with the Giants makes the most sense.
Danny Valencia - 3B Danny Valencia is a player the Twins wouldn’t get a lot in return for if they dealt him. That being said, a deal with the Angels and Dodgers makes the most sense for him.
Josh Willingham - LF Josh Willingham is going to attract a lot of interest on the trade market. The Orioles, Indians, Pirates, Dodgers and Giants make the most sense for him. With the Dodgers recently losing out on Carlos Lee (he vetoed a trade to them), they appear to be one of the better suitors for Willingham.
Denard Span - CF Denard Span would also attract some interest on the trade market. The Orioles, Nationals, Marlins and Dodgers will all be in the hunt for him. I think the Orioles would be a good destination for him.
Carl Pavano - I don’t see there being a lot of interest in Pavano. If he can prove he’s healthy in the next couple of weeks, I see the Braves having some interest.
Nick Blackburn - I don’t see any team having must interest in Blackburn, but he’s going to be very, very available if a desperate team (the Blue Jays?) comes calling for him.
Francisco Liriano - The Twins are likely going to try to move Liriano this month. The Yankees, Rangers and maybe even the Royals makes the most sense for Liriano. I think the Yankees are going to come hard after him.
Matt Capps - If Matt Capps can get healthy in the next couple of weeks, I’m sure the Red Sox and Mets will try to deal for him.
