The Minnesota Twins lose J.R. Towles to free agency
28-year old righty swinging catcher J.R. Towles has elected to leave the Twins as a free agent. Towles played in 52 games in AAA-ball for the Twins last year and he was 36 of 168 (.214 avg, .595 OPS) with 24 runs scored, 1 homer, 10 RBIs and 2 stolen bases. Towles has played in 155 games in his first five years in the majors and he is 80 for 428 (.187 avg, .583 OPS) with 40 runs scored, 11 homers and 50 RBIs. This is no loss for the Twins.
