The Minnesota Twins sign Jeff Clement
The Twins have signed 29-year old lefty swinging 1B/C Jeff Clement to a minor league deal. Clement played in 23 games for the Pirates last year and he was 3 for 22 (.136 avg, .390 OPS) with 1 run scored and 1 RBI. He also played in 112 games in AAA-ball for the Pirates last year and he was 115 of 416 (.276 avg, .825 OPS) with 58 runs scored, 16 homers, 57 RBIs and 1 stolen base. Clement has now played in 152 games in his first four years in the majors and he is 84 of 385 (.218 avg, .648 OPS) with 33 runs scored, 14 homers and 39 RBIs. Clement will get a shot to win a bench job for the Twins next spring, but he will likely start the 2013 season in AAA-ball.
